Fundus Camera / OCT
Bangor Eye Care has always prided itself on delivering the best possible levels of service and care to its patients, and being able to offer OCT illustrates this perfectly. A futuristic Ocular Coherence Tomography camera has been installed, enabling trained opticians to analyse a digital photograph and a 3D cross-sectional scan of the back of each patient's eyes, quickly and painlessly.
One of the great benefits of OCT scans is that they enable diagnosis of eye conditions with more clarity. These non-invasive images can then be stored on file for future reference, allowing even subtle changes in a patient's eyes to be instantly noted when compared against past or future scans. If a referral is required Images can also be forwarded to eye consultants, this helps them prioritise the urgency for review.
OCT technology has become invaluable in diagnosing various sight-related conditions, including vitreous detachments, glaucoma, diabetes and age-related macular degeneration (better known as AMD), allowing treatment to begin much earlier than would otherwise be possible.
We regularly carry out macula and optic disc scans to assess for Age related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and glaucoma. The procedure is quick and painless and usually no drops are needed. It requires and extra 20 minutes appointment for the scans and then for the optometrist to explain the results to you. The charge is £30.
Please ask for an 'OCT' eye scan when booking your appointment.
